Matthias Heilbronn’s DJ career started in the mid 80’s in his hometown of Bremen Germany. As one of Germany’s true house music pioneers, he soon secured residencies in top clubs of Berlin, Hamburg and Bremen. After moving to New York in ’89 he soon found himself playing for capacity crowds at such legendary NYC clubs as Palladium, Nell’s, Soundfactory Bar. Since then Matty has graced the decks of the worlds premier clubs and festivals. New York’s Body & Soul, Twilo and Cielo, London’s Ministry Of Sound and Fabric, Berlin’s Tresor, Tokyo’s Air and Yellow, Singapore’s Zouk, Ibiza’s Space and Pacha, Lisbon’s Lux, Brazil’s Serenas, Frankfurt’s Cocoon, Jakarta’s Embassy, Hong Kong’s Kee Club, Naples Duel Beats & Metroplole, UK’s Southport Weekender and in April ’08 alongside Tiefschwarz and Westbam, one of Germany’s biggest electronic music festivals: Kassel’s Disco Festival’08.

 

His ability to blend seamlessly between genres of electronic music, such as techno, minimal, tech house and straight up deep and classic house, mirrors that of his productions and has given him the reputation as one of the most diverse and interesting DJ’s in the circuit. Britain’s 7 Magazine described one of Heilbronn’s sets as a “spellbindingly eclectic set” where his “panoramic journey across often arbitrary musical genres, created a sense of New York, both past and present.”

 

From a production angle, according to press, Matthias "is at the top of his game" (JJazproJect), and “turning everything he touches at the moment in to gold”(MFSB). To underline his exceptional credentials, In 2008/9, Matthias has enjoyed almost unparalleled success with a string of recent productions and remixes all reaching the upper echelons of the Billboard Dance Chart. His remixes of Chaka Khan, Ultra Nate, Mary, Mary and Donna Summers all topped the Billboard Dance Charts.

His first release on Pokerflat, "The Jungle Dub EP" has been getting rave reviews in Europe's leading music magazines, was featured in "Heavy Rotation" on Raveline, while being featured as the "Single Of The Week" on Beatportal.com and is also currently included in Steve Bug’s compilation “Dead Man’s Hand”. Following the footsteps of his mentor Francois K. he continues to push the creative envelope, no two productions sounding alike. Matty’s recent releases on NRK and 1Trax, both including versions that cover the whole spectrum from deep house to techno, and a follow up to last Years tech house collaboration with Jon Cutler and Traxsource #1 seller “640”, are already climbing the charts, while more remixes for some of the industries biggest names, and of course, original material on his own label Pata De Perro Music are on the way. Additionally, Matty has released 4 mix albums, including DJ Magazine’s #1 covermount CD of the decade!
